User research manual
What’s the point: to consolidate what I’ve learnt over the last few years about research. Further point: to help others learn the benefits of user research.
Goal
To create an introductory level guide for user research. This should enable someone with no prior knowledge of user research to start applying research to their own projects. It won’t be exhaustive, there are great guides out there that will give you more in-depth ideas and skills. It will also reflect my own personal approach and hopefully help me reflect on what that is. Also provide jumping off points for people to learn more about the topic.
Approach
Initial approach will be to write up a series of short blog posts covering the key topics. I’ll then try to expand these once I’ve fleshed out the basic approach to each topic.
